Accommodations

Prosperity School has four guestrooms, including two suites, on the second floor. All rooms have high ceilings, one or more ceiling fans, central heat and air, antique furnishings, thick carpeting, private en-suite full bathroom with amenities, Queen sized bed with four or more pillows, feather/down comforters (in season), 500 to 600 TC luxury linens, LED alarm clock/radio, and their own individual charm from family treasures and unique local finds. Each Room/Suite has a "Scrapbook" full of information about the B & B, the School's History, and the area, and it's own 4 cup coffeemaker.  Decorating is done with bed linens and window treatments from Laura Ashley, Waverly, Croscill, Perry Ellis, Wamsutta, and other quality fabric makers. Some rooms have two-person Bain Ultra Thermo Masseur tubs with heated backrests. The 14" thick walls and deadbolt locks ensure peace and privacy.

A complimentary full breakfast is served to our overnight guests at 8am, in the Formal Dining Room. We serve our special Prosperity Blend Coffee with breakfast, a Missouri brand by Chauvin Coffee. The menu varies seasonally, and to take advantage of the freshest available ingredients. We include juices, a fruit garnish, a filling main entree, and muffins, biscuits, coffeecake, or other breakfast breads. A lighter breakfast can be prepared if you desire, with advance notice. If you have any dietary restrictions, (Allergies, Diabetic, Vegetarian, etc.), or dislikes, please advise us of them at the time you book your stay. If you will be unable to join our other guests for breakfast, please let us know this as soon as possible the day prior. We serve freshly made dishes, and want them at their best for our guests. Newlyweds (and anyone else!) who want to skip breakfast and sleep in, only need to let us know!

Common Areas

The spacious grounds offer separate herb and rose gardens, and a gravel pathway through a woodland area. Guests enjoy the covered rear deck with two lighted ceiling fans, with patio table/chairs and benches , the enclosed lower courtyard with water fountain from Sandstone Gardens, and an adjacent path through a flower garden with a southern exposure. There are well-patronized bird houses, feeders, and hummingbird feeders scattered around the property. We have noted an increase in our Hummingbird population recently! During the warmer months, many ferns and flowering plants can be found in these outdoor "rooms". The rotund figure on the North edge of the yard is Tubby, Little Lulu's boyfriend in the 1930's cartoon strip. He loves to have his picture taken with "friends"!

There is ample parking in the circular drive in front. From the entry vestibule, guests, following in the footsteps of schoolchildren, ascend the hardwood stairs to the lower central hallway. If you look back toward the entry, you see a display deck above the vestibule, with school desks, a chalk board, and the School Teacher! The large Formal Dining Room and Parlor are just off this hallway, where we invite you to relax on comfortable seating, and enjoy the double-mantle fireplace, glassware display, and the Proscenium arch that separates the two areas.

Twenty-four steps bring you to the second floor hallway, which is 12 ½ ft. wide with seating in the TV area. Built-in bookcases hold books and videos to suit many a discriminating taste, plus games, puzzles, Dominoes and cards to play on the library table. Ceiling fans add comfort, and there are menus and brochures from local businesses, along with information on attractions and seasonal events. Be sure to check the Teacher's Mail Cubby for brochures and other information.

"A gift from our daughter for our 50th Anniversary- my husband never did think he'd be sleeping on the stage of his school". Gene & Rosemary, Webb City, Mo. 3/18/05

"Best place we've ever stayed, and we have been all over the world." Archie & Mary, Kansas City, Mo.

"I can hear the pounding of many feet on these very stairs...only happy ghosts inhabit these halls." Janice, cousin to Miss Hazel, and Doris, sister-in-law to Miss Hazel, March 22, 2005
